2017 NJTL Player Level System

NJTL Level 1 Level 1 (formerly known as Tiny Tyke & Beginner 1-3)

This player has either just started playing tennis or has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play and sustaining a rally with a partner.

Age Groups:
Ages 5-6
Ages 7-8
Ages 9-10
Ages 11-14
Ages 15-18

NJTL Level 2 Level 2 (formerly known as Intermediate)

This player has recently passed the NJTL Level 2 tryout by executing the following skills:
– 25 bounce-ups in a row
– 25 bounce-downs in a row
– 7 out of 10 serves from the baseline
– 7 out of 10 groundstrokes from the baseline                        

NJTL Level 3 Level 3 (formerly known as Advanced)

This player has passed both the NJTL Level 2 & Level 3 tryouts (unless,they’ve previously passed an NJTL Advanced tryout). These advanced players should be proficient at all intermediate skills, have significant match play experience (most playing on school teams) and should be able to hit topspin during rallies. They should be in the process of developing power, spin and strategy.
