2018 NJTL Player Level System

Level 1 (formerly known as Tiny Tyke & Beginner 1-3)

This player has either just started playing tennis or has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play and sustaining a rally with a partner.

Age Groups
- Ages 5-6
- Ages 7-8
- Ages 9-10
- Ages 11-14
- Ages 15-18

Level 2 (formerly known as Intermediate)

This player has passed the NJTL Level two tryout by executing the following skills:
- 10 bounce-ups in a row
- 10 bounce-downs in a row
- 5 out of 10 serves from the baseline
- 5 out of 10 groundstrokes from the baseline

Level 3 (formerly known as Advanced)

This player has passed both the NJTL Level two & Level three tryouts. Level three tryout includes execution of the following skills:
- 8 out of 10 serves from the baseline into the correct service box
- Successful completion of a 20-shot rally with an NJTL coach. Players receive two chances to successfully complete the rally.
- Minimum of four of five correct answers to a quiz regarding tennis rules.
